In 2024, the global surge in elections highlights both the potential of technology to enhance democratic participation and the risks of misinformation and echo chambers. The European Union has responded with regulations like the Digital Services Act and the European Media Freedom Act to combat these threats and protect freedom of information and expression. This event analysed and unpacked these challenges.
