This week a major “terrorist” trial will take place behind closed doors in the UK. Government ministers took the unprecedented step, supported by judges, of applying for the trial of Erol Incedal and Mounir Rarmoul-Bohadjar, two men suspected of terrorist activities, to take place in secret “in the interests of national security”. This departure from “open justice” raises serious questions about the role and influence of the media in the courtroom.
