Last Monday 7th June marked the deadline for Member States to transpose the new Directive 2019/790 on Copyright in the Digital Single Market.
On such occasion, with the aim of supporting a correct transposition of the much-debated Article 17, the European Commission published its guidance on the new rules for content-sharing platforms. The Commission stated that the guidance is specifically meant to balance fundamental rights and the use of exceptions and limitations, thus also helping market players in complying with the national legislation implementing the Directive.
