In the case Airbnb Ireland (C-390/18), the Grand Chamber of the Court clarified that an online intermediary platform which facilitates the connection between future guests and professional or non-professional hosts for short-term accommodation services and a number of other ancillary services, shall be considered an ‘information society service’ as defined by Directive 2000/31 on electronic commerce.
